St Michael’s Manor is privately owned and Richard is the third generation of the Newling Ward family to run the hotel. Close to the centre of the ancient Roman city of St Albans, The Manor is set in five acres of beautiful English country gardens, surrounding a lake.

Originally commissioned by the Gape family in around 1512, The Manor was converted into a hotel by the Newling Ward family in the early 1960’s. Whilst it has been updated to the highest standard it retains all it’s richness and historical detail. The 30 bedrooms and superb dining facilities combine a classical style with an informal, relaxed atmosphere.

Each of our 30 bedrooms are individually styled with a full range of modern comforts, to make your stay as luxurious as possible.
