The Hillcarter Hotel was originally built in 1887 as the department store Hill and Carter and it continued in retail use for, approximately, the next one hundred years, changing in name to Blacketts and then Dovecot. The building was renovated in 1997, with neighbouring buildings incorporated to restore the exterior appearance to its original grandeur. It was completely transformed internally to provide a luxurious twenty bedroom hotel, with a Rooftop Restaurant offering stunning views of Hartlepool and the Marina, several public bars, a nightclub and a function suite with seating for 125 people. The Hotel now offers the finest accommodation, cuisine and friendliest service in the area.
