Cringletie House is a truly romantic Victorian mansion set in 28 acres of gardens and woodlands. The 400 years old Walled Garden is supplying the kitchen with herbs, fruits and soft fruits, vegetables and more unusual products that the chefs want to use. Another part of the Walled Garden are set aside for outdoor games, like petanque and giant chess and draughts. Yet another area is laid out as a Dutch parterre, a style that was hugely popular in the 18th century and has been imported into the United Kingdom, e.g. the Privy Garden at Hampton Court Palace. At only 20 miles from Edinburgh Airport, Cringletie House is the ideal location to visit the beautiful city of Edinburgh and to explore the interesting and rich in history Borders Region. The House was completely refurbished during 2003/2004, including all fourteen bedrooms and the five public rooms providing its guests with luxurious and comfortable surroundings. The House has now full wheel chair access, a lift and a designated disabled guest room. This room has a number of facilities that will make disabled guests feel comfortable and safe. The award winning Restaurant is located on the first floor and enjoys breathtaking views over the rolling country side. The room has a hand painted ceiling commemorating the marriage between George Sutherland and Elizabeth Wolf Murray. The Chef provides the guests with imaginative menus and dishes and uses either home grown produce or local produce. Guests have the opportunity to select Chef’s Tasting Menu which is a seven-course menu that reflects the Market, the Garden, the Sea and the Season.
