Newbury is the site of many Civil War Battles and is now better known for its race course and towpath walks along the Kennet and Avon Canal. Set in race course country, this 17th century former Coaching Inn, overlooked by Donnington Castle, stands within the beautiful countryside of Royal Berkshire, providing an ideal base for tourists wishing to visit the many attractions of this region. The M4 motorway (junction 13) is only two miles away, giving easy access to London and Bath, both of which are only an hour`s drive. The A34, which has recently been improved, also offers a quick connection to Southampton and Oxford.
