This elegant Victorian mansion is superbly furnished with fine antiques and many period features and our 76 bedrooms offer you a relaxing nights sleep. Enjoy a drink in the bar, then dinner in the candlelit Vinand Restaurant which provides panoramic views as well as fine fare. Gardens (with outdoor games of draughts) lead down to the hotel`s own jetties. Beautiful scenery abounds in this treasured countryside, much of it preserved by the foresight of children`s author Beatrix Potter who invested her book earnings into buying parcels of land in the Lake District ensuring its preservation when she bequeathed it to the National Trust.
