In early 2006 the George undertook the largest refurbishment in it`s history with £12m being invested in refurbishing 116 bedrooms and all public areas, conference rooms and restaurants and bars. The George now offers luxury bedrooms and a contemporary bar and restaurant, Tempus, located directly on George Street. A further £3m will be invested in early 2007 to complete the remaining 79 bedrooms. The George is within easy reach of the majority of Edinburgh`s most popular attractions including the famous Castle, Princes Street Gardens and Holyrood Palace. A little further a field is Edinburgh Zoo and Leith Port which is now home to the Royal Yacht Britannia.
