Enjoying a unique and spectacular location in the heart of the beautiful unspoilt North Norfolk countryside, Elderton Lodge is a hidden gem; offering genuine tranquility and a rare opportunity to escape from the stress of modern life. Once the Shooting Lodge and Dower House to Gunton Hall, the lodge, now listed by English Heritage as a building of national importance, was a favoured retreat for Lillie Langtry, the noted Victorian beauty. Reputedly, it was here she entertained Edward VII, then Prince of Wales, who frequently visited Lord Suffield at his Gunton Hall estate.
Surrounded by its own six acres of mature gardens, Elderton Lodge was a discreet venue, a sanctuary from the madding crowd; and so it remains to this day overlooking the eight hundred acres of Gunton Park with its herds of deer and spectacular sunsets.
The North Norfolk Heritage Coast, the Broads National Park and the important National Trust properties of Blickling, Sheringham and Felbrigg Halls, are all within short driving distance (15 minutes) of the hotel.
