Trehellas House is a lovely, Grade II listed Cornish courthouse dating back to the early 18th century. It has had many guises over the years - starting life as a posting Inn - Washaway Inn and was used to hold the monthly petty sessions for the Hundred of Trigg until the 1870s. In the 1760s and 1770s a Venison Club was also held, where neighbouring gentry dined several times every year. Various facts and incidents at the club are recorded in the `Parochial History of the Deanery of Trigg Minor` of 1876. The inn was converted to a farmhouse -Washaway Farm in the late nineteenth century and subsequently to a private house in the twentieth century. In the late sixties it became a letting complex called `Washaway your Troubles`, then five years ago was completely renovated and renamed Trehellas House. The courtroom suite still retains the magistrate`s dais and the early 18th century moulded cornice.
