White Moss House was bought by William Wordsworth for his son, and the poet often rested and wrote poetry there. Built in 1730, it overlooks Rydal Water in the heart of the Lake District. Many famous walks and drives, by lakes and over hills, begin from the front door.

Proprietors Sue and Peter Dixon have created an intimate family atmosphere. Personal care for the guests, and attention to detail are hallmarks of this charming hotel. There are five rooms in the main house and two situated in Brockstone Cottage Suite, whose isolated beauty makes it a truly romantic spot.

The value-for-money wine list of over 300 bins offers distinguished bottles from around the world. The restaurant has been continuously in The Good Food Guide for the last 25 years. Comments include:-

Peter Dixon is a maestro of British cooking - The Sunday Times.

Peter Dixon is an intuitive cook, with a deep understanding of ingredients and flavours. He uses wonderful local produce for his five course dinners - Bon Appetit.

Lovers of good food and wine, who appreciate the beautiful scenery immortalised by the romantic poets, will love White Moss House. Ratings/Awards:AA Red Star
