The Fox and Hounds Country Hotel is nestled in the beautiful Taw Valley. The grounds border the River Taw and offer some of the finest woodland walks and Fishing in the area.
Situated on the A377, halfway between Exeter and Barnstaple, Dartmoor and Exmoor the hotel is ideally situated to take advantage of Devon at its best.
All rooms are individually furnished with luxurious antique furniture, creating an individual relaxed atmosphere to make your stay memorable.The rooms are spacious and comfortable and all are ensuite, have tea/coffee making facilities and colour television.
Our talented chefs create excellent meals and we have a superb wine list. We have a delicious menu, with bar snacks available. You can enjoy our wonderful food either in our relaxed traditional bar or our restaurant that overlooks the beautiful garden and grounds.
Set in beautiful country surroundings, the Fox and Hounds offers a variety of country sports to interest you. We have salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing available on the River Taw. We can provide Ghillie service, rod hire and tuition. Special 3 day fishing breaks for £165, which include 3 days fishing, 3 nights and a full English breakfast. `We have some excellent local fly fishing lakes which are easily accessible from the hotel. These are also available when fishing on the River Taw is out of season, along with local coarse fishing lakes. We can also arrange shooting breaks in season for pheasant and partridge. There are many scenic forest walks to be enjoyed. There is a local riding stable and golf course which are 4 miles from the hotel.
