The Tigh Na Mara Hotel is situated in Sandhead village on the shores of Luce Bay. The hotel is within arms length of a beautiful clean stretch of sandy beach, boasting breathtaking views across the bay.
The hotel offers seven en-suite rooms, recently refurbished, with four located within the hotel and three situated in the former cottages, joined onto the hotel. Every room has tea and coffee making facilities, colour television and irons and hair dryers are available on request. Pets are welcome in certain rooms and all of our rooms are non smoking.
At the Tigh Na Mara hotel and restaurant we take great pride in the quality of the cuisine we offer. We utilise Scotland`s abundance of fine produce such as superb beef and lamb, fresh seafood and rich game combined with a vast selection of ingredients drawn from around the globe. Lunch in the restaurant is served between 12-2.30pm. Our A La Carte menu is available during this time or if you require a lighter bite why not choose from our selection of sandwiches, served with a hearty bowl of home-made soup. Dinner is served between 6-9pm and booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment. To begin, build up an appetite by sampling on of our starter dishes such as local smoked haddock wrapped on filo pastry and set upon a dill cream sauce or perhaps our strips of chicken and mushrooms accompanied with brioche bread and a creamy white wine sauce. For meat lovers we offer a wide variety of steaks, cooked on our char grill and fresh seafood is available from our weekly changing specials, which vary depending on the seasonality of the produce.
The hotel has a public bar where you can socialise with the locals, perhaps play some pool on our games room or simply relax with a dram, beside our warm and inviting log fire. During the summer months our beer garden is also popular, situated at the back of the hotel.
For the more active, why not experience the spectacular scenery of the Galloway Forest by foot, wander around one of the many stunning gardens, such as the award winning Royal Botanic Gardens, near Port Logan, or play a round of golf at one of four excellent local courses.
So for the ideal short break why not visit this un-spoilt countryside, were the scenery is breathtaking, the cuisine is local and freshly produced and most importantly the warmth and hospitality of the Fisher family and their team of staff.
