Opened in August 1997 Chancellors is The University of Manchester`s dedicated year-round residential conference centre. The comfort of hotel service supports the very best in purpose built meeting rooms - all in one building! Set in five acres of mature landscape Chancellors incorporates the historic Firs House which was built for Joseph Whitworth by Edward Walters the architect famous for Manchester`s Free Trade Hall. More recently the house was home to C P Scott, editor of the Manchester Guardian. Passing into the hands of the University, the Firs became the official residence of succeeding Vice-Chancellors.
