The hotel is set in 78 acres of tranquil park and woodlands.Its interior has retained its traditional charm with ornate ceilings and wood panelled large master staircase. Lockerbie Manor Hotel is a Georgian Manor, built in 1814 for Sir William Douglas and Dame Grace Johnstone and their famous great-grandson, John Sholto Douglas, the 8th Marquis of Queensbury, who was responsible for formulating the present day Queensbury boxing rules, believed to have been completed in this house. In 1920, it became the smart country hotel it is today.
