Lady Anne Middleton`s is a truly unique hotel. Located in Skeldergate, the ancient Roman Waterfront, which now leads from the medieval city walls across the river to the centre of York. Lady Anne`s nestles in a secluded English courtyard garden. Walking in the grounds of the hotel, you are walking the ground trodden three centuries ago by the widows of the freemen of York. You walk where Hans Hesse, director of York City Art Gallery would entertain his good friend Charlie Chaplin, one of the greatest laughter makers of all time.
