Welcome to The Merrymouth Inn, here we offer something for everyone; delicious food, an informal, friendly and relaxed environment, and very comfortable accommodation The Inn has a long history dating back to the 13th Century and it has been beautifully restored retaining many of its original features. It is thought that the Inn was run by the monks from nearby Bruern Abbey, and there is a rumour that an underground passage exists in the lovely vaulted cellar, but this have yet to be discovered. Now a free house, owned by the Flaherty family, and managed by Tim Flaherty, a part of the building has been a Hunting Lodge, and also a farm, so you can see that the building has had an interesting past. Since the Flaherty family took over the Merrymouth, the Inn and the nine bedrooms have been attractively refurbished. The bedrooms, originally stables, are situated round a courtyard adjacent to the car park. |
