At the front of the South Downs, this 1765 Coaching Inn combines excellent cuisine (2 AA rosettes), award-winning wine lists (over 600 labels) and superior rooms (AA 4 red diamonds). Relax in front of the open fires, have a massage (on availability), or walk/cycle the beautiful countryside, in any direction, straight from the front door. Dine in the restaurant (with piano on Saturday nights), or the bar; enjoying local, organic and seasonal specialities including partridge, lobster, rabbit and seabass. Then relax in your room, with firm super-king sized beds, large bathrobes, CD facilities, wooden floors with rugs, and the deluxe continental breakfast hamper. You can choose from seven `wine` rooms all facing out on to a private flint-walled garden, with a mix of power showers and baths, or two `champagne` rooms with the added extras of wide flat-screen TV, DVD/VCR, sofa, fridge and pampering bath products. One looks on the the garden, the other has its own small private courtyard. The whole venue is non-smoking, and was awarded the Gold Green Business Tourism Award in 2005. Christmas is a very special time at the White Horse, with mince pies, a little gift from Santa, carol singing, and of course, great food and wine. Enquire about Christmas and other special breaks. The Chilgrove White Horse is a great wedding venue, offering a lovely country setting with the flexibility of hosting a wedding breakfast for up to 50 people in the 1765 restaurant, or for up to 120 people in a marquee overlooking the Chilgrove Valley ... or a combination of the two, perhaps with a private black tie dinner in the restaurant, and a larger wedding breakfast in the marquee the next day.
