Built in Tudor fashion in 1882, the Popinjay Hotel is positioned 4 miles off the M74 England - Scotland main motorway, on the A72, Hamilton - Lanark Road, in the heart of the famous scenic Clyde Valley.
Set in 8 acres of private grounds with beautiful picturesque gardens reaching to the banks of the famous River Clyde, where the Popinjay enjoys its fishing rights.
The Popinjay takes its name from an imaginary bird connected with 17th Century May Day celebrations in the area and described by Sir Walter Scott in his book `Old Mortality`
